Comic on hiatus Sep. 15th, 2008 @ 12:46 am
I don't really have anything more to say here than I said in my notice on the comic itself, but I wanted to thank those of you who have taken the time to come here to write to me. It's been really great having even the smallest bit of feedback on the comic. Thank you!

Today's comic
is up!

We ran a sale last month, and people took full advantage of it, so that means I am totally swamped with orders (meaning I am spending more hours than usual out in my workshop getting covered in wood chips). So, things with the comic will be a little hit and miss for the next few weeks. Hence the missed update last week, and the lack of shading this week. I actually have no idea when I will have time to shade this one. Probably not for a few weeks at best.

Anyway, we are out of the astral realm and back into reality once more. I like the astral realm, it's more fun to draw. :) Reality is full of sharp angles and set rules. Bleh.

Anyway, I am off to get covered in wood chips. Ta ta. I may have an announcement on Friday about that video I posted a while back. So, check back if you care. :)

Yeah, this week's comic is really just the last panel of last week's comic. I wanted to post them both at the same time, but that didn't happen. Obviously. :) So, I hope you at least enjoy the art this week, and if you read last week's and then this week's in a row it all makes much better sense now. ... Right? I hope so, anyway.

I decided to post this one before shading it so you all won't have to wait around all day for it. It shouldn't take me all day to shade it, but I know lately I have been posting these things really late on Monday, which is technically Tuesday for some of you depending upon your time zone. I don't want to be "that guy" who always posts late. Those of you who read more than just this webcomic probably know what I am talking about. I fear I have become "that guy" to some extent, though I rarely skip updates and have never done so without an explanation. Maybe I am just paranoid.

Anyway, things here are same old, same old. Willow and I still wait in uneasy anticipation to see if our YouTube video gets picked to be in the final 10 of the Post-it Notes contest. But we won't know until the middle of next month. Ahhhhhhh!!!!! If we place in the contest, the cash prize is enough to upgrade our camera to a Canon VIXIA HV30, a high definition camera with some nice semi-pro features and beautiful image quality. So I've been obsessing about that for the past week. For those of you who don't know, Willow and I moved to California with the ambition of becoming film-makers years ago. Goldentree Wands just sort of happened organically, as did The Many Moons of Astra afterward. Our true ambitions still lie in film-making. So it's pretty exciting for us to be making films even on such a small scale right now.

Well, I'm going to stop yammering and get to shading this comic. I hope you are all peachy, and please drop me a line if you are bored. :) Ta!

I'm baaaaaa-aaaack!!! Aug. 12th, 2008 @ 12:43 am
Today's comic

Sorry about that week off. I've been ill, overburdened with work and other stresses, and basically just not doing so well. But enough about me!

This week we see that Astra is perhaps not the know-it-all she comes across as sometimes. But then, if any of us woke up in the astral realm for no apparent reason and then got chased down by a monster, I guess we might be a bit less than our usual sharpness as well. It's hard to say. If this has ever happened to anyone, please let me know. I am genuinely curious what you did. ;)

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed that video I linked to. It was a lot of work. We entered it into a contest, with the top winner receiving $10,000....!!! The way things are right now with the economy, that would just basically save our proverbial bacon. And if not, our goose may be cooked! I think I'm hungry. But seriously, things are looking grim on the financial front. I may have to start selling my body on the street corner. Or the cats. One of the two.

Well, it is bed time for me. I hope you are all having an enjoyable summer (or winter, for those of you across the globe). Wear sun block and/or a coat. See ya!

I'm suffering from a slight amount of artistic burnout this week, so I thought I'd just do everyone a favor and do a Wiccaman comic instead of the ongoing plotline. Some weeks I'm just not feeling it, and from past experience it's those weeks I regret even picking up the pencil. But hey! The comic is on time this week! ;)

Willow and I are taking the entirety of next week off from work so that we can do a video project we've had in the works for some time now. It's not even Goldentree Wands related! Imagine that! I'm very much looking forward to it. Although, the only reason we have time to spend on this project is because nobody's been ordering our products. But oh well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right? :)

I hope everyone is doing well this summer and not eating too much ice cream or getting too much sun. I prefer my fans pasty and thin.

See you next week, when we get back with Astra and answer the burning question: "What the heck?"

Well at least this week's isn't late or unfinished. Anyway, still working on last week's, so no time for journals! Maybe I'll post a real entry after I am done with that. Until then, go check out the forum! DO IT!

See ya!

Today's comic
is up!

Ah, I remember the days when I used to have the comic done on Saturday night, or Sunday at the latest. But those days are gone. :)

This week's comic took a ridiculous amount of time to draw. Seriously RIDICULOUS! I got some excellent advice about fixing the hair of my characters, which I applied this week. That look a little extra time. And I am trying to keep a closer eye on anatomical proportions, to up the quality of my art over time. And of course, this is just a more complex and varied comic than I have done in a while. So That's my excuse.

I'll be in the car for about 5 hours tomorrow, so I plan to finish shading the comic and make a random silliness for you all in that time. It will be interesting to see if that is possible. If not, then it may be a few more days until the shading is done. But it WILL get done, for those of you who care. All like... one of you. :)

Anyway, off to bed I go. See ya!

Hey everyone, sorry for the late update. We just got back from our trip on Tuesday, and a mistake on my orders lost me an entire day that I would have otherwise spent on the comic. I really hate posting late, because I know people check back throughout the day and it gets frustrating. Sorry! I had really hoped this would be done sooner. :(

Anyway, things should get back to some semblance of normal now. The shop is very slow thanks to the economy dying, and there's no more trips in the future, so I should have plenty of time to devote to the comic and a lot of other projects that have been languishing on the shelf.

I'm exhausted, so I will see you all next week.

Today's comic
is up!

Thanks to those who sent me a guest comic, and those who thought about it. :) Sorry I've been pretty silent on my journal the past few weeks, I am currently writing this in a hotel in Anaheim and will be headed out again tomorrow. But I'll be home in a few days and then things will be settled down again for a while.

Thanks again for the guest comics! They are awesome!
